Washington, Apr 17: The United States has issued yet another advisory warning its citizens in India of possible terror attacks in the country.

"The US government continues to receive information that terrorist groups may be planning attacks in India," the US Department of State said in a statement released on Friday, Apr 16.

"The February 2010 bombing in Pune and the November 2008 attacks in Mumbai provide a vivid reminder that hotels, markets, trains and other public places in India are especially attractive targets for terrorist groups," the advisory added.

The new advisory replaces the travel alert issued on Jan 29 and expires on May 30.

The Department of State said that the warning comes in the wake of Feb 2010 Pune bombing.

On Feb 13, a bomb exploded at the famous German Bakery in Pune claiming ten lives and injuring over 50. The bakery was frequented by tourists and two of the victims of the bomb blast were foreigners.

The advisory urges US citizens to practice good security, maintain a heightened situational awareness by monitoring local news reports, consider the level of security present when visiting public places, and maintain a low profile.
