Written by: Staff

Chennai, Apr 13: AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa has voiced her concern on the uncertainty over Women's Reservation Bill noting that the fact the government is yet to table it in the Lok Sabha is raising fears among the women that Bill will be put on hold.

"Nearly a month after it was passed in the Rajya Sabha, the Women"s Reservation Bill is yet to be tabled in the Lok Sabha which is a matter of concern. This gives rise to apprehensions among women that it could once again be put on the back-burner," she said, adding that the government should take all measures to alleviate these fears.

She has pressed the government to pass the legislation when the Lok Sabha resumes on Apr 15 for the budget session.

Meanwhile, V Narayanasamy, Minister of State for Parliamentary affairs has announced that the government has decided to hold another all-party meet on the Bill, which reserves 33 per cent seats for the women in Lok Sabha and State Assemblies.

The government has been on a campaign to assuage the objecting parties to garner enough support for the Bill's successful passage in Lok Sabha.
