Party leaders to meet over Women's Bill
New Delhi, Apr 5: The all party leaders meet over the Women's Reservation Bill will be held on Monday, Apr 5, at the backdrop of vehement protest by the Yadavs- Lalu Prasad, Mulayam Singh and Sharad.
The meeting has been called by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, leader of the Lok Sabha, as the government is keen to push the Bill forward in the Lok Sabha without using any force.
The Bill, which was passed in the Rajya Sabha with the support of 186 members against 1, faced a major hurdle with the RJD, JD(U) and SP demanding a qouta under the quota. Mayawati led BSP opposed the Bill in its present form.
Earlier on Mar 30, Law Minister, M Veerappa Moily had said that the goverment would go ahead with the bill in its present form in the Lok Sabha in the second phase of the Budget session, scheduled to begin on Apr 15.
