Mobile number portability delayed again to Jun 30
New Delhi, Mar 31: The government has further delayed the launch of mobile number portability (MNP) service to Jun-end, 2010.
MNP allows a mobile user to retain the mobile number even after switching to another telecom service provider.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) said the introduction of MNP had been further extended to Jun 30 after assessing the readiness of various operators.
This is the second time the launch of MNP has been delayed.
Earlier, it was scheduled to start from Dec 31, 2009 in metros, which was later extended to Mar 31.
