New Delhi, Mar 25: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has refused to tender an apology over his offensive remarks against women.

Addressing his supporters, Mulayam said that he has no qualms over what he said as he stands firm on his statement.

He said, "I have deliberately made the whistle remark and I have done nothing wrong. I wanted a debate to start on this issue (Women's Quota Bill). Don't assume that it was a slip of tongue."

On Tuesday, Mar 23, addressing a rally, he had said, "If the Women's Reservation Bill would be passed in its present form, it would help women belonging to the families of industrialists and bureaucrats, who were of the kind youths would want to whistle at."

The remark was condemned by parties across the political spectrum and some irate women's organisations demanded an apology.
