New Delhi, Mar 22: The two-day bandh imposed in seven states began on a violent note as Maoists blew up a railway track in West Bengal on Monday, Mar 22 morning.

Latest inputs say that the explosion on the railway track has affected rail services in West Midnapore.

Maoists have called for a 48-hour bandh in six states including West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh along with three districts of Maharashtra.

The states have been put on high alert.

The Maoists are agitating against the 'anti-poor' Union Budget 2010, which they claim has been formulated on the dictates of the Wold Bank.

The Maoists are also protesting against the Operation Green Hunt, an offensive launched by the government against red terror.
