London, Mar 3: After a safe sex campaign featuring Adolf Hitler, an anti-abortion campaign also depicting the Nazi dictator has emerged.

The campaign, which has triggered off outrage in Poland, consists of a billboard showing Hitler and a destroyed foetus and carries the tag line 'Abortion for Poles: introduced by Hitler, March 9, 1943'.

“It was Hitler who first introduced abortion to Poland, and in several days it will be the anniversary of that event," Fundacja Pro, the organisation behind the billboard, told The Telegraph.

Pro added that it was an effort to limit the population of the people considered to be inferior by the Nazi supremacists.

“In this context it is worth recalling the words of Pope John Paul II: 'History teaches us that democracy without values easily turns into open or thinly disguised totalitarianism'," Fundacja added.

Poland, which is a Catholic country, is known for having strict abortion laws.

“I understand that this campaign is designed to shock but there are limits to the use of shock. A foetus and Adolf Hitler is unjustified comparison. The design of the billboard is unacceptable and crosses the boundaries of decency," Elzbieta Streker-Dembinska, an MP and member of the Polish parliament's health committee is quoted as saying.

Any movement to liberalise abortion laws will spark off debate. It is also suspected that the campaign was created to coincide with the Women's day, which falls on Mar 8.

There are usually pro-abortion rallies held on the day.

This comes after a similar AIDS awareness campaign landed in a controversy. The campaign created by an German Awarness group carried a the tag line 'AIDS is a mass murderer' and showed a young couple indulging in intercourse. The male was none other than Hitler.
