Colombo, Jan 12: Days after the father of V Prabhakaran passed away, Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa said that the slain Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) chief's mother and mother-in-law can go live in India.

In reply to a question, president Rajapaksa on Tuesday, Jan 12 said, "They (Prabhakaran's mother and mother-in-law) can go to India if India agrees."

With the death of Prabhakaran's father, Thiruvekkadam Vellupillai, the two women are left with no menfolk in their household.

Neither LTTE chief's mother Parvathi Pillai nor his mother-in-law Erambu have revealed anything about their future plans.

MDMK leader Vaiko and the former Tiger chief's cousin Rajendran have asked the Sri Lankan government to send his aged mother Parvathi to Tamil Nadu.

During the offensive against the rebel outfit, the mother and father were forced out of the LTTE-controlled area. They were reportedly living among the refugees in a camp in Vavuniya when the war reached its final phase.

After several month long offensive, Sri Lanka defeated LTTE and killed Prabhakaran on May 18.

While the Tiger chief's elder son Charles Anthony was killed days before his father in fighting in northern region, the whereabouts of his wife and younger son continues to remain a mystery.
