Bangalore, Jan 11: Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda"s outburst against the Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa has left the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders livid.

Both BJP national spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad and BJP state president Sadananda Gowda expressed shock over the language used by someone who once held the post of a prime minister and demanded an apology.

Expressing contempt over the Janata Dal (Secular) leader leader's 'filthy' outburst, Mr Prasad said, "The statement made by Gowda is not at the stature of a person who once, accidently though, became the prime minister of this country. Gowda should apologise to the country."

The party has also reportedly threatened to sue Mr Gowda for using abusive language.

“We highly object to this kind of conduct by Deve Gowda. He should apologize unconditionally or face severe legal action," BJP leader from Karnataka Dhananjay Kumar is quoted as saying in local reports.

On Sunday, Jan 10 morning, Mr Gowda used profane language against the Chief Minister while speaking about the Nandi Infrastructre Corridor Enterprise (NICE), which is a consortium formed to construct the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project.
