Agitations against Telangana cripple Andhra

Hyderabad, Dec 12: Agitation against separation of Telangana continues to plague Andhra Pradesh. Bandhs and protests across the state carried on to the second day crippling normal life on Saturday, Dec 12.

Protests have particularly affected the coastal and Rayalseema regions of Andhra Pradesh, say media reports.

While schools, colleges, shops and other business establishments remained shut, scores of commuters were left stranded as the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) suspended its services in the two regions..

In the port city of Visakhapatnam, the fast-unto-death launched by students besides the relay hunger fast continued, and protesters have planned more demonstrations for the day.

Kadapa, Kurnool and Chittor districts are also seeing similar agitations.

Banks, ATMs and business establishments remained closed in Vijayawada.

Authorities have informed that the decision on resuming APSRTC services here will be taken around noon after reviewing the situation and that restrictions have been imposed on the speed of trains in view of the rail blockades and other agitations.

The political parties Congress, Telugu Desam and Praja Rajyam spearheading the agigations will be meeting in the evening.
