Mandore Exp mishap kills 6, track pierces AC coach

Jaipur, Nov 14: In one of the most gruesome train mishaps, the AC compartment of the Delhi-bound Mandore Express was pierced by portions of the track when it derailed at 1:30 am near Banshkov Railway station on Saturday, Nov 14, leaving six passengers dead and 19 others injured.

It has been reported that passengers inside the pierced AC compartment may have been hit by the iron rods and welders are being used to remove those iron rods.

Three of the six dead bodies have been identified as Sonal Singh of New Delhi, S Kumar of Jodhpur and Ujjawal Vadhwa of Jaipur .

The injured as been admitted in SMS Hospital, one of whom is a New Zealand national.

An exgratia of Rs 5 lakh to the next of the kin of the decease has been announced by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee.

According to North West Railway Spokesman, a compensation of Rs one lakh would be given to the seriously injured and Rs 10,000 to passengers to those with minor injuries.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has also announced an exgratia of Rs two lakh to the next of the kin of the deceased, Rs one lakh to those seriously injured and Rs 50,000 to those with minor injuries.

While West zone railway protection commissioner Prashant Kumar and GM NWR R M Verma have left for the accident site, stranded passengers have been sent to Jaipur via state owned buses.

Twelve trains including New Delhi Ajmer Shatabdi have been diverted.
