Indian shepherd finds Russian paraglider's body
Dharamshala, Nov 2 (ANI): Police found the body of missing Russian paraglider following an alert by an Indian shepherd.
Elliya Yudin who had come to Bir Billing area in Kangra valley, Himachal Pradesh to participate in a paragliding competition reportedly went missing after a fall on Oct 25,2009 when he went on a rescue mission to find another missing paragliders at Dhauladhar mountains.
Failing to find Yudin's whereabouts police roped in Shyam, a local shepherd in the rescue operation.
Shyam trekked for around 21-kms before recovering the body from a narrow gorge.
"He went along with four-five people and they retrieved the body successfully and his body is handed over to police now," said Sanjeev Gandhi, Additional Superintendent of Police, Kangra.
Around 120 pilots from India and abroad had registered for a pre-World Cup paragliding championship, scheduled to begin in Kangra valley on Nov 4,2009.
However, organisers cancelled the event citing non-cooperation by the State government.
