Another MiG-27 crashes, pilot safe
Kolkata, Oct 24: Yet another report of MiG-27 fighter jet crash has come to light. In the ninth IAF Aircraft crash since Jan 2009, the MiG which was on a training sortie crashed near New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal on Friday, Oct 23.
"The aircraft was on a routine training sortie from the Hashimara airbase and crashed at around 1310 hours, nearly 15 kilometres from its take off base near New Jalpaiguri," IAF officials said.
However, the pilot, Flight Lieutenant Gautam managed to eject safely.
This is the second MiG-27 crash in 2009. Earlier in May 2009, another Russian MiG-27 crashed at Jodhpur.
