Helsinki, Oct 23: Suinging Apple Inc for infringing patents on mobile phone technology for the iPhone, Nokia has accused Apple Inc of 'trying to get a free ride' on the back of its innovation.

The world's largest mobile phone maker has alleged ten patent infringements involving wireless data, speech coding, security and encryption and the breaches applied to all models of the iPhone since its launch in 2007.

The Finland-based firm has reportedly signed agreements with as many as 40 firms which include the world's leading mobile handset makers allowing them to use the firm's technology.

However, Apple has neither signed any agreement nor has it compensated Nokia for its technology, Nokia said.

"The basic principle in the mobile industry is that those companies who contribute in technology development to establish standards create intellectual property, which others then need to compensate for," said Ilkka Rahnasto, vice president of Legal and Intellectual Property at Nokia adding that Apple was also expected to follow this principle.
