Assembly Polls: BJP accepts defeat 'with humility'
New Delhi, Oct 22: The Bharatiya Janata Party accepted the 'people's verdict' and conceded to defeat in the assembly polls 'with humility' on Thursday, Oct 22.
Speaking to the reporters, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "The results are unexpected. But we accept the people"s verdict with humility. We are disappointed. We have to honestly ponder over our weaknesses and act fast."

Blaming Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for the party's defeat in Maharashtra, Prasad said, "In about 40-45 constituencies, the MNS factor favoured the Congress."
Earlier, the Gopinath Munde also pointed out that MNS acted detrimental to the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in the state especially in Mumbai.
The Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance secured up to 140 seats in the 288-member assembly. Apart from this, other small parties and Independents too grabbed some seats leaving Shiv Sena-BJP alliance struggling to reach the 100 mark.
