Assembly Polls: Cong begins celebrations
New Delhi, Oct 22: In what came as an acid test after the May 2009 Lok Sabha Polls, Congress has managed to secure a lead in three states' Assembly polls of which took place on Oct 13. After the party consolidated its place in the country as a force to reckon with, Congress headquarters has burst into celebrations.
Apart from the celebrations in the Headquarters located in the heart of the nation's capital, Congress workers set off firecrackers and shouted slogans in front of party president, Sonia Gandhi's residence. Party flags, posters of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are flying high in New Delhi.
As predicted Congress took early lead and continued its winning streak to secure a vast majority in all three states of Arunachal, Haryana and Maharashtra.
Allied with NCP, Congress dished out a drubbing to its toughest rivals BJP-Shiv Sena alliance and MNS in Maharashtra.
By winning a lead in Arunachal, Congress has gained a significant spot in the northeast of the country, while the majority in Haryana proves that the party has bagged the votes from all the communities beating regional parties like HJC and INLD.
