Bollywood dance troupe, Nutkhut performed in the palace ballroom under the 30-ft domed red velvet canopy.

Five female dancers and three males performed a 15-minute extract from the Bollywood Steps inspired by Indian films which was a show conceptualised by the founders Ajay Chhabra and his wife Simmy Gupta.

The performance included seven costume changes and a typical boy-meets-girl storyline.

Chhabra and Gupta who choreographed the show said it was an honour to have been able to represent the Indian arts at the palace for Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen met cricketers Sumit Patil and Monty Panesar, along with footballer Michael Chopra.

Meera Syal, and Sanjeev Bhaskar who star in the famous BBC Comedy 'The Kumars at 42' were also found chatting with the Queen.

BBC reports that the Queen praised Meeral Syal for her realistic granny make up in the show. Bhaskar was quoted as saying that the Queen laughed when he joked that no make-up was required.
