Mayawati's prospects as next PM?
While the BSP supremo continues to invite the wrath of the public and the Supreme Court which is also trying to discipline the UP government like an unruly child over the obsessive memorial building, one is forced to wonder why Mayawati chose this path.
In theory, the Bahujan Samjwadi Party (BSP) which establishes itself as a voice and backbone for the Dalits of the country is doing nothing wrong by honouring the Dalit leaders.
It only becomes an problem when all the state government is does is take tax payers' money and invest it on establishing sprawling memorial gardens across Uttar Pradesh.
This not only fails to serve any practical purpose but also fails to even remotely help the impoverished Dalits.
With as much as Rs 2500 crore allotted in the state budget for 'honouring the Dalits' , Mayawati could have formulated a number of projects that would have really helped the deprived population of the India.
By just putting this kind of money into educating the Dalits of the country would have not only achieved just that, but also would have bolstered India's development along with equipping Mayawati with enough political and social strength to become the Prime Minister of the country.
