IIM-A board to meet on govt's pay structure
Ahmedabad, Sep 21: Quoting sources, reports say that the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) board will meet on Friday, Sep 25 to deliberate and take a decision over the implementation of a new pay structure as ordered by the government.
"IIM-A board meeting has been convened on September 25, and the issue of implementing the new government order on pay revision shall be taken up for discussion then," an IIM-A official was quoted as saying in a news agency report.
The faculty on Saturday, Sep 19 opposed the implementation of the pay structure and asked the IIM-A director Samir Barua to delay its implementation by a month.
The government's order puts 40 percent cap on the promotion of professor to senior grade, along with restricting the number of domestic and international conferences a professor can attend annually.
This is being opposed as 'infringement on academic freedom of the institution.'
