Criticism against Obama not racist: White House
Washington, Sep 17: The White House has brushed aside former president Jimmy Carter's claim that the first black US president, Barack Obama is being criticised because of his race.
Spokesperson Robert Gibbs on Wednesday, Sep 16 said the president doesn't believe that criticism of his policies were 'based on the colour of his skin'.
Jimmy Carter on Tuesday, Sep 15 had argued that that Republican Joe Wilson's outburst during Obama's speech to Congress last week was 'based on racism'.
"There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president," Carter had said.
