Israel tour: Palestinians slam Madonna

Tel Aviv, Sep. 5: Madonna's pilgrimage tour to Israel has attracted the wrath of Palestinians, who slammed the Material Girl for consistently ignoring Palestinian suffering.

Sky News quoted one Palestinian youth worker as saying that Madonna "tries to place herself as a global role model, but consistently ignores Palestinian suffering".

Hania Bitar even suggested that Madonna could make up for her bias by adopting her next child from Gaza.

During her one-week long Israeli tour, Madonna met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his residence, went to pray at the Western Wall and dined with the opposition leader Tzipi Livni.

Apart from that, a real Queen laid out a helicopter for her to visit the legendary ruins of Petra over the border in Jordan.

However, she didn't make any effort to meet Palestinian leaders or bother to go to the West Bank.

Making matters worse for Palestinians were images of the staunch Kabbalah devotee star draped in Israel's blue and white flag at her concert in Tel Aviv, the report said.

But the Queen of Pop was criticised for saying that she hoped for harmony and peace in the Middle East, while at the same time apparently ignoring the plight of Palestinians under occupation.
