Most dangerous celebrities to search for in 2009
Washington, Aug 31: McAfee released the annual list of most dangerous celebrities to search on the Internet for 2009 with Hollywood actress, Jessica Biel on the top.
Jessica Biel beat last year's topper, Brad Pitt, to be labelled the 'Riskiest Celebrities to Search on the Web' in 2009, as there was one in five chance of landing at a Web site that"s tested positive for online threats, such as spyware, adware, spam, phishing, viruses and other malware, the PC security firm said.
Jessica Biel's relationship with the pop musician, Justin Timberlake makes her the most searched for celebrity, in turn making searches for her name an easy target for spammers and hackers.
Beyonce follows Beil to rank the second in most dangerous celebrity on the cyberspace list for the second year in a row.
The 15 most dangerous celebrities to search for in 2009 are:
- Jessica Biel
- Beyonce
- Jennifer Aniston
- Tom Brady
- Jessica Simpson
- Gisele Bundchen
- Miley Cyrus
- Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie
- Ashley Tisdale
- Brad Pitt
- Reese Witherspoon
- Britney Spears
- Rihanna
- Lindsay Lohan
- Kim Kardashian
"Cybercriminals are star watchers too – they latch onto popular celebrities to encourage the download of malicious software in disguise," said Jeff Green, senior vice president of McAfee Avert Labs.
Interestingly, the Obamas do not figure in the top ranks of the most risky public figures to search list. US President, Barack Obama and First Lady, Michelle Obama are ranked in the bottom-third of this year"s results, at 34 and 39 ranks respectively.
