Nissan's small car production to come to India
New Delhi, Aug 28: The Japanese car maker, Nissan is planning on shifting its small car manufacturing base to India.
The fact that Nissan is choosing Chennai over China comes as good news.
The company is in the final stages of developing a global strategic small-car platform. And the first product to roll out would be the India-made Micra hatchback in June 2010.
"We have decided to manufacture the Micra at our upcoming factory at Oragadam, near Chennai," Nissan India MD and CEO Kiminobu Tokuyama said.
Nissan is expecting to win at least 6 per cent of the Indian market in the next three years.
