Typhoon Morakot kills 12, injures 32 in Taiwan
Taipei, Aug 10: Typhoon Morakot lashed Taiwan causing the worst flooding the island has seen in half a century. The typhoon has killed 12 people, left 32 people injured and about 52 others were missing as on Monday, Aug 10 morning.
Rescue operations are on to help thousands of people cut off by collapses bridges or overflowing rivers. The typhoon caused a record 2.5 mts of rain on the island before reaching the coast of mainland China.
Apart from disrupting human life, the typhoon has severely affected the agricultural production with about NT $2.1 billion reported losses.
