TVS Motors registers 2 pc growth in Jul 2009

Mumbai, Aug 1: The TVS Motor company has posted positive numbers for the period between Apr to Jul 2009. Registering two wheeler sales at 120,994 units, India's leading automobile company has reported a growth of 2 per cent when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year which saw sales of 118,545 units.

The company posted a 5 per cent surge in domestic sales with 107,883 units in July 2009 verus 102,530 in the corresponding period of 2008. The scooters sales was up by 15 per cent with sales of 27,673 units as opposed to 24,156 units (YoY).

The motorcycle sales, however, saw a decline and stood at at 42,998 units as opposed to 54,042 units recorded in July 2008.

The company's exports too registered a decline. There were sales of 13,061 units of two wheelers in July 2009 as against 16,015 units from previous year.

The newly launched models: TVS Scooty Streak, The Apache RTR 180 and TVS Flame SR 125 are well received in the market, the company said in a press release.
