RIL-RNRL dispute: SC rejects plea for speedy trial
New Delhi, Jul 30: Anil Ambani's plea to for commencing final hearing on RIL-RNRL gas dispute was rejected by the Supreme Court on Thursday, Jul 30 and reasserted that it will decide on the date of final hearing on Sep 1.
The government counsel in the case on Wednesday, Jul 29 said that Government supported early hearing of the case. Welcoming this and hoping the Mukesh Ambani's RIL would not indulge in 'dilatory tactics' put forth his plea for speedy trial.
The case was also discussed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Jul 29. Based on the allegations that the Oil Ministry was siding with RIL, members demanded for the resignation of the Petroleum Minister, Murli Deora.
Earlier, Anil Ambani raised accusations against his brother, Mukesh and the ministry stating that RIL was showing 'dishonourable conduct' and that the ministry was siding with his brother. He had also written a letter to the Prime Minister asking him to direct the ministry to not take sides in the dispute.
