Sikh soldiers to guard the Queen for first time
London, Jul 29: For the first time two Sikh men have been inducted into the Royal Guard,and they have won the honour of guarding the Queen.
26-year-old Signaler Simranjit Singh became the first soldier to wear his turban on public duties guarding Queen Elizabeth.
28-year-old Sarvjit Singh is the second to be inducted into the elite force.
Simranjit who is now posted at Buckingham Palace serves with 21st Signal Regiment based in Wiltshire while Lance Corporal Sarvjit serves with 3rd Regiment Army Air Corps based in Suffolk.
