2003 Mumbai Blasts: All 3 accused held guilty

Mumbai, Jul 27: According to media reports, all the three accused in the 2003 Mumbai blasts case have been found guilty. The special court on Monday, Jul 27 convicted the three accused for murder and criminal conspiracy under Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA).

The Quantum of sentence is expected to be declared on Aug 4. Speaking to the media, the public prosecutor, Ujjwal Nikkam said that the prosecution is demanding for a death sentence.

Haneef Sayyed, an auto driver, his wife Fahmeeda and Ashrat Ansari were the three accused in the twin blasts. The blasts rocked India's financial capital on Aug 25, 2003 at Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazzar killing 52 people and injuring hundred others.

During the six year long trial, public prosecutor, Ujjwal Nikkam examined 103 witnesses. Out of all the witnesses important details came from a taxi driver whose car was used to plant the bomb at the Gateway of India.
