Islamabad, June 30 (ANI): At least 45 Taliban insurgents were killed in separate incidents in South Waziristan, as the Pakistan Air Force fighter jets continued to pound militant hideouts in the region.

Several extremists were also reportedly killed in clashes with the tribal militias in Swat and Kurram region.

According to sources, 21 militants were killed when an anti-Taliban militia attacked a militant hideout in the Kurram Agency, while four tribals were also killed in the clashes.

The Army has claimed that the command centres of the Taliban and all its training facilities have been destroyed completely in the Swat Valley.

"In Swat, the Taliban command structure has been totally dismantled, their training centres discovered and destroyed, their recruits either killed or driven away, their ammunition dumps destroyed and their headquarters destroyed," The Daily Times quoted the ISPR spokesman, Major General Athar Abbas, as saying.

Acting on specific information, the security forces raided a compound in Khawazakhela area of Swat, and killed eight extremists, said Abbas.

A huge cache of arms and ammunitions was also recovered by the troops during the raid, he added.

Meanwhile, the tribal militia (lashkar) in Upper Dir's Shortkas Dogdarra village killed two extremist and nabbed 14 others from the region. (ANI)
