New Delhi, Jun 12: In an interview with NDTV, Law Minister M Veerappa Moily said that the convict in the 2001 Parliament Attack case, Afzal Guru can not be hanged until the other mercy petitions before his are disposed.

Replying to a question on Afzal Guru, Moily said, "The question is that it is not Afzal or anybody. You know you cannot pick and choose and hang people. There is justice."

Guru is among 28 convicts whose mercy petitions are pending before the President. Observing that there were other terrorists in the death row, he named the terrorist involved in Indira Gandhi's killing, and others who are in the waiting list.

"I am not defending anyone but I am for evolving a system for mercy petitions," he said.

He continued his argument, by reminding that there are so many terrorists in Pakistan who are waiting in death row, including Indians. He questioned if we, Indians want them to be hanged immediately.
