Punjab Govt. to create data bank of students studying in Australia
New Delhi, June 10 (ANI): The Punjab government has asked parents of those studying in Australia to provide details of their children's whereabouts.
The state government has directed the parents to provide details of students up to June 12 with their respective patwaries and tehsildars.
In the wake of a series of attacks on Indian students in Australia, Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has asked the divisional commissioner of Patiala division Jasbir Singh Bir to prepare list of students who have been studying in Australia.
Bir said on Wednesday that he has written a letter to all the deputy commissioners of the state to prepare the list by the end of this week.
Condemning the attack on Indian students in Australia, he said the data bank would include details on the total number of Indian students in Australia, where they stay and job conditions of the part time employed students.
Bir, who is also the commissioner of NRI affaires Punjab, has also urged the parents of those students to ask their wards not to take law in their hand. (ANI)
