Washington, Jun 3: The United States has rejected Pakistan's claim that Washington has failed to keep its promise in providing financial aid for the Swat region.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, "I certainly understand the anxiety of anyone in Pakistan, they have taken on this really important challenge of trying to take on the Taliban, but we've been providing aid."

Clinton added, "We have already distributed 110 million dollars for the displaced people. We've got that out very quickly. So, I think it may be moving more quickly than perhaps the president knows."

Earlier, in an interview, Asif Ali Zardari had alleged that Pakistan did not have enough funds to rehabilitate the thousands of people displaced in Swat. "We have no money to arm the police or fund development, give jobs or revive the economy. What are we supposed to do?" Zardari said.

Meanwhile, the US special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrook, left for Pakistan to assess the situation arising out of the massive displacement of over three million people due to the military offensive, and to accelerate international relief efforts in the region.
