Kaula Lumpur, June 3(ANI): Former deputy president of MIC Datuk S Subramanium on Tuesday raised an issue over the presence of so many political parties to represent the Indian community which is made up of only 7.5 per cent of the country's total population.

Subramanium mentioned in a statement that the parties had not achieved anything and asked if this was the work of some cunning leaders more interested in splitting the community.

"Although democracy allowed anyone to form his own political party, the mushrooming of parties within the community had led to a split in support, resulting in dissatisfaction among Indians," Subramanium said.

He further pointed out that rather than forming so many parties, what is more important for the Indians is to be united and join forces with any party which could help them get the necessary benefits from the Government, The Star Online reported. (ANI)
