Beijing asks Pakistan to check anti-China militant activities from its soil

Lahore, Jun.3 (ANI): Concerned by the increasing activities of the militant organization, East Turkistan Islamic Movement, China has asked Pakistan to root out extremism from its soil.

Chinese President Hu Jintao has asked his Pakistan counterpart Asif Ali Zardari to utilize all its resources to curb the menace, the BBC reports.

According to the Foreign Ministry, there are reports that the East Turkistan Islamic Movement operatives are hiding in the tribal region, and are planning strikes against China.

It also revealed that the militant organization was provoking Chinese Muslims to join them.

Beijing, through diplomatic channels, has also expressed concerns over the safety of over 10,000 Chinese professionals working in Pakistan.

It has asked Islamabad to provide adequate security cover to the Chinese nationals in Pakistan, especially the 3,000 workers working on the Karakoram Highway near Swat. (ANI)
