Union Cabinet finalises Prez speech to Parliament

New Delhi, May 30: The newly formed Union Cabinet on Saturday, May 30 reportedly discussed and approved the President's address to the joint sitting of Parliament on June 4.

The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was also attended by the Ministers of State (MoS) with the Independent charge. Singh is believed to have held deliberations with his team on implementing the 100-day programme of the government during the two-hour long meeting.

President's address to the joint session of the Parliament is expected to unveil the UPA government's agenda for the year ahead. It may also include UPA's commitment to the strengthening of schemes like NREGA and economic policies to be followed in the wake of global recession and promises to weaker sections of society.
