Chandigarh, May 27: Peace is slowly returning to the state of Punjab and neighbouring Haryana after witnessing days of violent protests triggered off by the death of a Sikh preacher in Vienna.

With the state getting back to normalcy, the curfew has been relaxed and the train services have been reportedly restored on Wednesday, May 27. Long-route buses have not resumed operations yet but is expected to be restored shortly.

The worst hit region in the state was Jaladhar which saw violent protests and arson. However the relaxation of curfew in the area has been taken well, the officials said. The same applied to the other regions like Hoshiarpur, Phagwara and Ludhiana.

The curfew remained intact in the Malout town of Muktsar, which will be relaxed soon, said the officials.

On the whole no major incidents have been reported from either Punjab or Haryana.
