Airtel to provide in-flight connectivity

New Delhi, May 22: The Bharati Airtel will soon be able to provide in-flight connectivity to its customers, Bharati Airtel has partnered with UK based in-flight solutions company AeroMobile in order to enable the customers to make and receive calls on their mobiles on select international airlines.

Bharati Airtel which will be the first Indian telecom company to offer this facility to its customers has announced that it has entered into an agreement with AeroMobile.

Aero currently has agreements with several global carriers such as Emirates, Qantas, Malaysia Airlines and Turkish Airlines.

The costs involved in availing this offer, however, would be pricey. An outgoing call will cost Rs 188 per minute, while an incoming call will be charged Rs 24 per minute. While receiving text messages will be free, sending a message will cost the passengers Rs 41.

The company has informed that with this deal Airtel post-paid customers can use their mobile phones on-board of especially equipped aircraft without any special any additional subscription charges. However this service will not be available over Indian Air Space and will work only in airspaces of countries where regulatory approval has already been granted.
