Washington, May 20: The United States has asked Sr Lankan government to make arrangements for 'power sharing' among the Tamils and Sinhalese along with the other communities in order to ensure lasting peace indicating that this move will root out the conflict that started off the war in the first place.

"To truly defeat terrorism, the Government of Sri Lanka needs to begin to heal the wounds of the conflict and work toward building a democratic, prosperous, tolerant and united Sri Lanka and work toward justice and reconciliation for both sides," the State Department spokesman, Ian Kelly, said in a statement.

The spokesperson added that this was necessary in order 'to safeguard and promote the rights of all Sri Lankans'.

Satisfied over the fact that the fact that the war is over, US, however, raised concern over civilian casualties and thousands of the Internally Displaces Persons (IDP).

On Tuesday, May 19 Sri Lankan authorities releaved that Tiger rebel leader Prabhakaran's body was found confirming his death and effectively bringing the war against Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) to an end.
