India's inflation slips to 0.48 pc

New Delhi, May 14: The annual rate of Indian inflation for the week ended May 2 slipped to 0.48 per cent from 0.70 pc in the previous week.

The measure for inflation, Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for all commodities stood at 231.6, up 0.4 pc on a week-on-week basis. Experts said the fall is inflation is mainly due to seasonal factors and inflation would move up again towards the end of the year as commodity prices bottom out and the base effect comes into play picture.

Index of primary articles went up to 0.4 pc and the manufacturing products index rose 0.4 pc from a week earlier. The fuel index rose 0.2 per cent on a week-on-week basis.

The inflation for the week ended Mar 7 has been revised to 0.89 per cent as against 0.44 per cent earlier.
