SL govt shell a hospital killing 47: Tiger Rebels
Colombo, May 12: The Tiger rebels have accused the Sri Lankan government of attacking a makeshift hospital that was treating the wounded in the war zone killing 47 people.
Rebel spokesman Seevaratnam Puleedevan reportedly told The Associated Press that a shell hit the hospital on Tuesday morning, May 12.
A health official who spoke with the condition of anonymity confirmed that the shell did hit the hospital ad 56 people were wounded, when reached through a phone.
The government, however, has denied these reports.
