New Delhi, May 9: After Meghalaya was thrown into president's rule following the dismissal of the MPA government, Congress and NCP have expressed keen interest in jointly installing a government in the region.

''We are likely to meet the Governor on Monday, May 11 and jointly stake our claim for the installation of a stable and able government,'' senior Congress legislator Prestone Tynsong said.

He also informed that CLP leader DD Lapang will be sworn in on May 12 along with 11 others as Cabinet ministers.

Earlier Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Mukul Sangma had said, "We have made some breakthrough. We have accepted NCP's offer to join hands. We are finalising the modalities."

Meghalaya went into president's rule on Mar 19 due to fluid political situation dismissing the Donkupar Roy-led Meghalaya Progressive Alliance government which was backed by the NCP.

On Tuesday, May 5 Manmohan Singh had met NCP leader Purno A Sangma and spoke over if they were open to a Maharashtra-like (Congress-NCP) equation in Meghalaya.
