Lahore, Apr.25 (ANI): Former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf has said that he is ready to assume charge of the country once again if the situation does not improve.

In an interview to a private television channel, Musharraf said he would not mind serving another term if he could bring on the change the nation desperately needs currently.

Musharraf said he decided to step down because he felt that if he continued to hold the post he would have been rendered an "impotent" president.

"I'm not the kind of person who sits around uselessly. I can't be a useless man," the Daily Times quoted Musharraf, as saying.

Worried by the expansion of the Taliban's writ in the country, Musharraf said he was 'despondent' about what was happening particularly in the Swat Valley , where the government has agreed with the Taliban's move to introduce sharia law.

Musharraf viewed the Taliban as a far greater threat to Pakistan than Al-Qaeda.

He also blamed the United States for the 'trust deficit' between both the countries, and said that Obama was no different from his predecessor, as he has failed to change America's attitude towards Pakistan. (ANI)
