Jaswant's claim on Kandahar is oppurtunist: Cong
New Delhi, Apr 24: Congress has dubbed Bharatiya Janata Party leader Jaswant Singh's statement that LK Advani had opposed the decision to free the Kandahar Hijack terrorists as ' suspicious in timing and completely opportunistic'.
Congress is of the opinion that Jaswant Singh's claim is aimed at covering up Advani's flaws as a leader and to promote him as a Prime Ministerial candidate.
"Jaswant Singh's statement is suspicious in timing, completely opportunistic and self-serving, intended to cover up Advani's default and promote his prime ministerial ambition," Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said.
Singhvi observed that the comment has come ten years too late after the incident and added, 'such self-serving statements in the middle of elections fool no one'.
Jaswant Singh had said earlier, that L K Advani and Arun Shourie were against the release of any terrorist in exchange for hijacked Indian Airlines passengers, and added that he has shared this for the first time.
