Lucknow, Apr 13:The Supreme Court has reportedly postponed the hearing of Varun Gandhi's case scheduled to happen on Monday, Apr 13 to Thursday, Apr 16.

A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, was supposed decide if the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Pilibhit, Varun Gandhi can be allowed to contest in the Lok Sabha polls and to check if the case was justified or not.

According to sources, the court seemed positive in letting him file nomination and to conduct election meetings as long as he promised to not repeat the kind of behaviour that got him into trouble in the first place.

Varun Gandhi was arrested after his alleged inflammatory speech against the Muslims of the nation, and was slapped with a case by the Uttar Pradesh Government under the National Security Act (NSA).

Varun has said that the case against him primarily a political move by Mayawati-led government in order to detain him from contesting in the polls. He added that detaining him this way was illegal. However, the Mayawati government has denied this and said that the case was filed only with the intention of keeping law and order in place.
