Now, a shoe hurled at P Chidambaram
New Delhi, Apr 7: A journalist apparently hurled a shoe at Union Home Minister P Chidambaram during a press conference at Congress headquarters in New Delhi. Jarnail Singh, a scribe with the Jagran group was upset after Chidambaram refused to answer his question regarding 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Singh reportedly asked a question about CBI giving clean chit to Jagdish Tytler in the anti-Sikh riots case. But Home Minister refused to comment on the issue. Chidambaram was holding a press meet to comment on the Assam blasts which occurred on Monday, Apr 6.
However Chidambaram requested the press people not to get distracted by the issue. He also pardoned Jarnail Singh for his misbehaviour. Singh was handed over to Delhi police by the security persons.
Jarnail Singh said to media that he threw shoe at Chidambaram as CBI is under Home Ministry. Congress party expressed shock as Jarnail Singh is known to the party sources and is a senior Dainik Jagran reporter.
Earlier an Iraqi journalist threw shoe at US George W Bush.
