New Delhi, Apr 2: With the Lok Sabha elections just around the corner, there has been efforts to evaluate the pasts of the existing members. The results are staggering. About one hundred and twenty MPs are found to have tainted pasts.

In the 14th Lok Sabha, records show 21 per cent of the BJP, 16 per cent of the Congress, about fifty percent of the NCP and Shiv Sena, and all of the JMM MPs having a criminal history. These members are also filed for serious and violent crimes like rape, murder, extortion and others.

This adverse trend now seems to be carried on to the 15th Lok Sabha. The candidates are especially those who are given ticket from parties such as BSP and BJP. One such instance is Dhanajay Singh, Uttar Pradesh's BSP candidate (from Jaunpur) who has been booked under cases of murder and attempts to murder.
