LS Polls : SC to decide Dutt's fate on Mar 30
New Delhi, Mar 30: Actor turned politician Sanjay Dutt's fate to contest in Lok Sabha Polls 2009 will be decided by Supreme Court of India on Monday, Mar 30.
Supreme Court will take a decision on Dutt's plea for suspension of his conviction in with 1993 Mumbai serial blast.
Whether he can contest LS polls or not will depend on the stand taken by CBI. It can be recalled here that earlier CBI had not opposed his bail in the apex court after he was sentenced to six years' imprisonment by a Mumbai TADA Court. Dutt was held guilty under the Arms Act.
Under Samajwadi Party (SP) Dutt decided to contest LS polls from Lucknow. Munna has sought suspension of the conviction on the grounds which were considered by the apex court while staying the conviction of BJP leader Navjot Singh Sidhu in a road rage case.
