Srinagar, Mar 29 (ANI): Normalcy has returned to a militant infested village here, where people once afraid of venturing out even during the daytime.

Dera Ki Gali, a village in the Rajouri District, once used to be the hotbed of Islamic rebels. Even vehicles preferred not to ply through this densely forested area after sunset.

But, things have been changed a lot now.

"Earlier we used to keep our shops open for just two to three hours and managed to sell few items. But now things have changed. Now we can keep our shops open for a long time. All this has really helped our businesses to grow. When there was militancy we were unable to keep stocks but now we have all the items of daily use," said Abdullah Khan, the village head and shopkeeper.

Mohammad Nayeem, a taxi driver, said now a single person could move around freely.

"Earlier in the village it was very difficult for the vehicles to ply even during daytime. People were scared to venture out. But now due to the grace of God even a single person can move around freely," Nayeem added. (ANI)
