Markets closes positively amid volatility
Mumbai, Mar 25: The benchmark indices surged higher in the last half an hour of the trade, after witnessing volatility throughout the session ahead of F&O expiry day. More or the less it was a positive day for the markets.
Buying in capital goods, metal, realty, banking, FMCG, private power companies' shares as well as Reliance Industries and Infosys helped the markets to stay higher for major part of the session. However, the sell-off in ONGC, NTPC, Bharti, HUL, Wipro, Tata Motors and Ranbaxy Labs capped the gains.

and
the
Nifty
was
up

points,
to
2,994
(provisional
figures).

Markets seeing some consolidation
The markets were ranged and saw some consolidation. The sell-off in ONGC, Bharti, NTPC, HUL, HDFC, ICICI Bank, SBI, TCS, Wipro, Tata Motors, Ambuja Cements and Grasim capped the gains. However, buying was seen in Reliance Industries, ITC, Infosys, BHEL, L&T, Tata Power, HDFC Bank, SAIL, Sterlite, Unitech and ACC.
At 12:54 pm, the Sensex was trading at 9,502, up 31 points while the Nifty was trading at 2,936, down 2 points. Broader indices were quiet in trade today.

advanced
while
1549
shares
declined.
Nearly

shares
were
unchanged.

Markets trading marginally higher amid volatility. Buying interest seen in Technology, banking, capital goods, FMCG, realty, private power companies' shares and Reliance Industries stocks. However, selling continues in ONGC, NTPC, Bharti, HDFC, SAIL, Tata Motors and Tata Steel.

Markets choppy in initial trade; L&T, ONGC gainers
Markets opened marginally weak and turned choppy in the initial trade. Suzlon, Unitech, SBI, Cairn India, Reliance Capital, Siemens, DLF, ICICI Bank, L&T, Tata Steel and ONGC were the gainers. However, HDFC, NTPC and Hindalco lost ground.
At 9:58 am, the Sensex was trading at 9,508, up 38 points and the Nifty was trading at 2,949, up 10 points. The CNX Midcap was up just 5 points, to 3,284.
HDFC fell over 3 per cent, as the company reduced its home loans rates by 50 bps effective on Wednesday, Mar 25.
