Kathua (J-K), Mar 9 (ANI): Hundreds of enthusiastic youngsters responded to a police recruitment drive, which was held in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district.

The youngsters came from far-flung border areas and even militancy prone areas hoping to be selected to join the police force.

Officials said that more vacancies would occur in the police force.

Unemployment has been the major problem of people in the border and militancy prone areas and such recruitment rallies have provided ample opportunities of employment to the educated unemployed youth.

"Over four to five thousand people will get employment under this recruitment drive. This drive should do some good to the locals by providing them with more employment opportunities. This would ensure that there are more people in the police force of the State and that would in turn ensure an enhanced security arrangement," said A Q Manhas, Deputy Inspector General, J-K Police, Jammu.

The newly elected Government in the State is of the view that problem of unemployment could be solved by the creation of job opportunities in the Government as also in the private sector. Efforts are being made to encourage private investment in the region by the State Government. By Pradeep Sharma (ANI)
